joint: (verb) to prepare (a board or the like) for fitting in a joint


Strange J45 Bracing and Bridge

Woody removed the top on this J45 and here's what he found:

Project Guitar: Joining the Top Plate

Tom first used a jack plane to joint the mating surface of the top plates, chekcing them at the window for light coming through the mating surface (light coming through will indicate gaps).

Project Guitar: Checking the Back Plates

We didn't have time to joint the back plates. Howard will take them home to clean up the joint and glue the bookmatched pieces.

Project Guitar: The Headplate

We were able to save some of the Amazon Rosewood from the back to make a bookmatched headplate. Mark cleans up the joint. Robbie will take the pieces home to glue them.

Being built from various piece of wood laying around the shop. The top is piece together from a 2x4. Sound hole at the cutaway, headstock veneers on front and back. Bridge is laminated cherry and rosewood.
